Connecting on a personal level is an important part of sharing ideas. On this page we'll present some details about our organization and the people behind it.

Our Staff

Here we include a list of names of some of the people who run our organization. Where possible we also include a picture and brief description of their background and interests.

The Society Founder

Philip is passionate about poetry, but even more so in his belief that poetry can be extremely important in the development of young people as they make the transition from Children to Adults. The Young Poet Society was born out of his visits to schools on 'poetry projects' together with heaps of encouragement from people like John Pilgrim on BBC Three Counties Radio and a number of sponsors around the world. In founding this society, Philip hopes that it will grow and more people will help to take its ideals forward for the benefit of the Young Poets.

Our Patron

Most not-for-profit organisations benefit from the support of Patrons. The Young Poet Society is pleased to have the support of a BBC Local Radio Presenter, who is also a journalist and successful writer.

A Message from John Pilgrim

Poetry is a wonderful way for young people to learn to express themselves. I applaud Philip Bell's efforts to encourage children to experiment with language.  Without  doubt children these days are subjected to many pressures. The Young Poet Society is a way in which children can learn to enjoy a simple pleasure which, will not only serve them in later life but one they can share with others. Through the Young Poet Society young people are able to communicate with others all over the globe.  Philip has carefully nurtured his dream of creating the society and he is to be highly commended. I know, from personal experience that Philip is committed to bringing the enjoyment and understanding of poetry to as many of his fellow human beings as possible and I wish him well.
